We’re still not really sure if Brendan Shanahan is any good at being a hockey executive, but at least he seems to be well-liked among fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs, in sharp contrast to general manager Dave Nonis and head coach Randy Carlyle. As Ryan Lambert writes for Puck Daddy, Shanahan has become the most powerful man in Toronto’s front office, and that’s bad news for Nonis and Carlyle.
You may have heard about the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in which celebrities (including a bunch of NHL players) get buckets of ice poured on their heads before challenging someone else to do the same. Former Leafs Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin were the latest players to partake in the challenge, and it was awesome in every way. PPP has the video and reaction.

I missed this news from a few days ago, but the Toronto Marlies signed Denver Manderson and Brett Findlay to one-year deals. Neither of them are expected to be difference-makers, but Findlay seems to have the greater upside of the two. Jeff Veillette of The LeafsNation has more on both players.
