Toronto Maple Leafs News & Notes: July 25, 2014

You know things are pretty quiet in Toronto Maple Leafs Land when the biggest talking point is still the Kyle Dubas hire three days after the fact. Nonetheless, the front office dynamic is still a very interesting storyline to keep an eye on. As president Brendan Shanahan says in this Eric Koreen column from the National Post, Dubas brings a “fresh perspective”. It’s always a good thing to have guys challenging the status quo.

Anthony Petrielli of Maple Leafs Hot Stove posted the third and final part of his interview with Toronto Maple Leafs head scout Dave Morrison. Morrison touches on his interactions with his regional scouts in order to better gauge a prospect and the development of some of the Leafs’ 2013 draftees.

Greg Wyshynski of Yahoo! Sports cuts through all the crap you’ve been reading about the Steven Stamkos-to-Toronto rumours and boils it all down to one big thing: Championships. Stamkos wants them, and Toronto isn’t going to get him any, at least not in the near future.

In other news, the Toronto Maple Leafs fired their entire scouting staff and replaced them with a single computer known as “S.I.T.T.L.E.R”. Dan Saraceni of Lighthouse Hockey has the details. (NOTE: Yes, it’s satire.)
