Well, a new era has begun for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Brendan Shanahan is officially the new President and alternate Governor of the Leafs.
Many questions were asked and there were a lot of interesting statements made in a press conference today. Here are some samples of what was said today.
That is a lot of news to digest. From the Randy Carlyle comments to the situation between Shanahan and Nonis, the next few weeks are sure to be full of rumors and news.
There was a lot of talk during the press conference during the Leafs and their culture and how they don’t have a winning one. Shanahan and Tim Leiweke both said that they are going to try to change that this off-season.
The other news that came out is that the search for a team President started before the season began and that Nonis was essentially helping bring in his new boss. The reason it took so long is the conflict of interest with Shanahan’s old job.
There will be changes to the Toronto Maple Leafs this off-season. Whether the coach gets fired, players get traded or let go off, the Leafs team that suits up for the 2014-15 season opener will not be the same team that finished the 2013-14 season. It’s only a question of what will happen and how soon we will hear it.
