Well, if it’s going to end, it’s going to end tonight.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are, as we all know, riding a whopping eight-game losing streak. This has caused them to fall out of the playoffs and in order to get back in, they pretty much have to win out and still get some help from other teams.

Tonight, the Leafs go up against a team they should be able to beat. The Calgary Flames are one of the NHL’s five worst teams this season. The Leafs are 11 points above them in the NHL standings. This should be an easy game.

However, these days, nothing is easy for the Leafs. Add in the fact that the Flames are doing doing pretty good right now, going 6-4-0 in their last ten games, and the Leafs could have some trouble tonight. Every Leaf player will have to be at the top of their game.

The Leafs believe they still have a chance to make the playoffs. After all, they are only two points out of the second wild card spot. If they truly believe that, they need to play like it’s the playoffs now and every game is Game Seven. If you lose, you go home. The rest of the season will be like that for the Leafs.

A win tonight against the Flames will raise the confidence. They’ll need to as their final five games are against the Boston Bruins, Winnipeg Jets, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers and Ottawa Senators, all teams that will be looking to play spoiler for the Leafs. What’s worse is that the Leafs have struggled against teams like Florida and Boston.

If the Leafs want to improve their slim-to-none chances of making the playoffs, a win tonight is a must.
