In a Winter Classic rematch the Toronto Maple Leafs will once again test themselves against the banged-up Detroit Red Wings. After their shaky performance early in Sunday’s game, the Leafs will be looking to get out to an early lead and play a more structured game defensively. Top fowards for the Wings are still out but their defense and goaltender Jimmy Howard are still capable of making it difficult on Toronto’s offense. The Leafs will need to get their second and third lines going, with the support of the currently hot defense corps to overwhelm the inexperienced forwards deeper in Detroit’s lineup.

Detroit is just outside of a playoff spot, so this an important game for them if they want to stay in contention.
