Toronto Maple Leafs Player Of The Week: January 19-25, 2014

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

With the six-game winning streak snapped in spectacular fashion, today is a good day to look back at the performances that led up to the turd in Dallas.

There was virtually nobody on the roster that had a bad week up until Thursday, but for a second week in a row, no Leaf had more to do with the outcome of the games played than No. 81. If the Toronto Maple Leafs are to go as Phil Kessel goes, my hope is to have him featured in this space on a weekly basis. On Thursday morning he jumped into the top five in goal scoring in the NHL, a list the Maple Leafs as a franchise have seldom seen their players end up on.

So for the second week in a row, the Maddie’s Mark  Toronto Maple Leafs Player of the Week goes to Phil Kessel from Madison, Wisconsin. Kessel finished the week with four goals and two assists for six points, making his season totals now 26-26-52. This was yet another best week ever for Phil Kessel.
