The Leafs extended their winning streak to 4 game and got a rare regulation win as they top their rival canadiens five to three on Saturday night. The Leafs would score early in the first as Nazem Kadri made a sweet deke and dish to Cody Franson to tapped in to give the Leafs the lead. The Habs would tie it up though as Brandon Gallagher put a rebound past Jonathan Bernier. The Leafs would score 2 more goals to take a 3-1 lead before the Habs scored 2 goals of their own to tie the game once again. JVR would put the leafs ahead though as he tipped a beautiful Tyler Bozak pass to beat Price. The Leafs would add an empty netter as Joffery Lupul got hauled down on a breakaway with the net empty allowing the goal.
It was an exciting game as both teams went end to end and had multiple chances. Nazim Kadri looked to prove a point that he wants to stay with the Leafs as he picked up 2 points and kept Plekanic at bay with his physical play.
Mason Raymond finally got off the goalless drought and it came at a critical time as he put the leafs ahead three to one He has been effective it is just the numbers have not been on his side as of late so it was a big relief to see him on the board. That Lupul Raymond Kadri line had a great game tonight and it shows what kind of talent that line has and the numbers they put up.
Tyler Bozak continues his strong play since coming back from that injury to have a point that was an assist on the all important go ahead goal for the Leafs. He seems to be making the better plays instead of making the questionable plays we are used to seeing him with. He has gained confidence playing with Kessel and JVR and it shows with his recent play.
The Leafs head to Glendale where they will face the lowly Phoenix Coyotes in the start of a big road trip. You can watch the game on Leafs TV and listen on TSN 1050.
