Welcome to tonight’s Toronto Maple Leafs live game thread. The opponent is the Boston Bruins, so people around these parts (read: me) might be a little crankier than usual. Please keep that in mind.
The Bruins outscored the Leafs 8-3 in their two meetings this season, both Bruins wins. Tuukka Rask will be in net for the Bruins, which is, uhhhhh, not exactly good news for Leafs fans. Rask is 8-1 with a .957 save percentage against the Leafs in his regular season career.
While the Bruins were ravaged by injuries and suspensions the last time these teams met on December 8 (the Bruins still won 5-2), most of those players will be back tonight. Loui Eriksson (a good player) and Shawn Thornton (not a good player) both returned from absences on Saturday. Eriksson recovered from a concussion and Thornton finished serving his 15-game suspension.
James Reimer was one of the Leafs hit hard with a flu bug over the weekend, but Randy Carlyle probably would’ve decided to go with Jonathan Bernier in net anyway because, y’know, he’s Randy Carlyle. Extra defenseman Mark Fraser and third-line winger David Clarkson were also infected with the virus, so Clarkson is questionable.
For full lineups, news, notes, viewing information and tons of other cool stuff, why not check out Daniel G.’s preview? Seriously, I can’t even think of a reason, unless you’ve already read it.
Do you have any predictions for tonight? Will Peter Holland play more than four minutes? Will Jay McClement play less than 18? Will the Bruins score less than seven goals? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments.
