The Toronto Maple Leafs stopped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win last night against the New Jersey Devils.
Who was in net for the victory? None other than Jonathan Bernier. Now, this isn’t going to be a post where I faun over Bernier, but he has clearly shown himself to be the Leafs No. 1 goalie.
However, there is still some loyalty to James Reimer for helping the Leafs get back to the playoffs last season. Before the acquisition of Bernier, it looked like Reimer was finally going to get his full time shot as a starting goaltender. That has certainly changed.
Randy Carlyle has certainly showed that he has more faith in Bernier. Just look at who has gotten more consecutive starts and you can see that Bernier is No. 1 in Carlyle’s eyes.
In fan’s eyes however, if Twitter is to believed, there are still some believers in Reimer out there. I too believe that Reimer could still be a No. 1 goaltender, just not with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Even with the struggles that both Leafs goalies have faced, Bernier has given more opportunities to bounce back. Reimer loses one game and it’s right back to Bernier.
So, let’s see the opinion of Editor in Leaf readers.
