Toronto Maple Leafs Injury Update: January 12, 2014

The Leafs aren’t in significant trouble when it comes to injuries, as only two players, Dave Bolland and Trevor Smith, are on injured reserve.

Trevor Smith was reported to be out four-to-six weeks when he suffered a broken hand on December 18. Since it has been over three weeks since the time of the injury, he could be making a return to the lineup in just over a couple weeks or less, assuming his recovery goes as planned. Smith’s return will allow him to potentially claim the fourth- or third-line centre position, currently being held by Jay McClement and Carter Ashton.

Dave Bolland is still out since suffering a severed tendon on November 2 against the Vancouver Canucks. Bolland is able to walk on his own, but his return date is still unknown.
