Toronto Maple Leafs Daily Poll: What is Nazem Kadri’s Future With The Leafs?

Another day, another poll concerning Nazem Kadri.

After my first article about the about the Kadri rumors, there was a lot of reaction saying that there is no way that the Toronto Maple Leafs should trade him. In fact, not one comment was in favor of it.

Then things got weird. In yesterday’s poll when I asked if you thought Kadri should be traded, the results have been surprising. In 187 votes so far, only 52% of you said the Leafs shouldn’t trade Kadri. So there is definitely a split among fans.

What has caused all of this is the troubles that Kadri has been having this season. Randy Carlyle expanded on his struggles when talking to the media yesterday.

He seems to be in a little bit of a funk… He seems to be standing still in a lot of situations. He’s falling down a lot, I’ve never seem him fall down on the ice when he’s got 100 per cent possession of the puck.

(On Saturday) at the blue line he finds a way to fall down. He’s surprised and we’re surprised that those types of things are happening to him, Our advice to him is to commit to the time off the ice (workouts in the gym), and when you’re on the ice, you work extremely hard and then you do extra … and that’s what he’s doing now.

It’s the same for any pro… When things aren’t going well for yourself, you have to be selfish, take a look in the mirror and say, ‘I’ve got to work my way out of this.’

The old adage is put your nose to the grindstone and work your way through it. I don’t think that is too far from the way young players today should approach it.

If he can improve and become that better player he thinks he is, Kadri could be a valuable asset for the Leafs for years to come. If all this hard work doesn’t lead to anything special, well then maybe the other 48 per cent are right.
