Shane Doan, Zbynek Michalek and Lauri Korpikoski will miss the game because of injury or illness for the Coyotes. Tyler Bozak, Dave Bolland and Colton Orr continue to be out of the lineup while Trevor Smith will miss his first game because of injury this season with a broken hand.

-Speaking of Bozak, he said today he should be ready for the December 29 game against the Carolina Hurricanes. That is the first game he will be eligible for after returning from long-term injured reserve. Here’s the tweet from TSN’s Jonas Siegel:

– In 12 of the past 13 games, the Maple Leafs have allowed three goals or more. With that stat, it’s no surprise the Leafs are 3-8-2 in that span.

– Both teams are coming off 3-1 defeats. Toronto is just holding on to the final playoff spot in the East, while Phoenix just fell out of the final spot in the West. Expect both teams to be motivated for this game.
