Toronto Maple Leafs vs. New York Islanders: Preview and Live Game Thread

The Leafs are back in action taking on the Brooklyn  New York Islanders at the ACC. The Leafs, losers of 3 of their last 4 games look to bounce back against New York in what will be the first game of three this season between the two clubs. Jonathan Bernier will get the start for the Leafs tonight opposite Kevin Poulin for the Islanders. The Leafs are hoping for a strong effort tonight after splitting what should have been two easy wins against a terrible Buffalo squad.

The Leafs will need to find a way to stop the Islanders top duo of Thomas Vanek and John Tavares, both have had great chemistry together ever since Vanek got traded to New York so the Leafs will have to find a way to shut them down and to shoot the puck as often as they can. The Isles defence and goal tending are a weak spot in a very improved New York squad.

Phil Kessel will play tonight per David Alter:

He will be paired with JvR and Holland on the first line.
