Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Edmonton Oilers: Preview & Game Thread

Nick Turchiaro-USA TODAY Sports

The Toronto Maple Leafs (8-4-0) begin their Western Canada road trip tonight against the Edmonton Oilers (3-8-2) for the second and final time this season. The Leafs grabbed a 6-5 win over the Oilers back on October 12 at the Air Canada Centre, and they look to sweep the season series tonight at Rexall Place. James Reimer played great Saturday vs. the Pittsburgh Penguins and with that, he is expected to start  between the pipes tonight, while the Oilers will start Richard Bachman for the second consecutive game while Devan Dubnyk is still on the shelf with an injury. Sam Gagner has been cleared to play and will centre Nail Yakupov and Jordan Eberle, while Nazem Kadri will centre James van Riemsdyk and Phil Kessel on the first line again as Tyler Bozak is out with an injury. Joffrey Lupul will be a game-time decision.

Here are the projected lines, as per DailyFaceoff.com.

  • Jeffrey Langridge

So, after this game, what would the Oilers give up for Reimer?

    • Tim Bayer

      MacTavish’s first-born child.

      • Jeffrey Langridge

Maybe. But I think the Leafs should hold out for more

        • Tim Bayer

Depends if the kid can play defense.

          • Jeffrey Langridge

LOL. Seriously, I think Edmonton will be making a strong push for Reimer after tonight’s game.

          • Tim Bayer

Makes sense. I would hold on to him if I was Nonis.

          • Jeffrey Langridge

I would too. Unless MacT goes crazy and gives the Leafs an offer that they can never refuse. **cough**RNH**cough**… never gonna happen though.

  • Tim Bayer

    RIELLY

  • Jeffrey Langridge

Where’s the puck? Rielly’s first NHL goal.

  • Tim Bayer

    Kessel is so generous.

  • Tim Bayer

Sounds like there’s a few Leafs fans at Rexall…

  • Tim Bayer

    BYE ORR

    • Jeffrey Langridge

Not that he was going to be doing much for the rest of the game.

  • Tim Bayer

I wish the Leafs would stop pushing opponents on Reimer.

    • Jeffrey Langridge

At least Ashton pulled RNH off of him

  • Jeffrey Langridge

That sucks. Rielly’s goal was just given to Kadri.

  • Tim Bayer

Sucks that Rielly lost that, but the puck pretty clearly went off Kadri.

  • Jeffrey Langridge

Game Over. 4-0 Leafs. Record: 9-4

  • Tim Bayer

That was fun. Thanks for commenting, guys. Let’s do it again tomorrow.
