Another day, another game, another opportunity for the Leafs to try and not get dominated by a team that’s playing very well right now. The Anaheim Ducks are 7-1 and among the Western Conference’s elite. They boast a wide array of offensively skilled players from Corey Perry to Ryan Getzlaf to Jakob Silfverberg to the ageless wonder Teemu Selanne. They’re a fun team to watch, but it’s not all that fun to see the Leafs get dominated. Let’s hope they can sort out their issues enough to make a game of it. Here are some links for you on this fine Tuesday afternoon:

Mirtle: Leafs on verge of getting David Clarkson, others back

David Clarkson will be back Friday, but Nikolai Kulemin and Mark Fraser probably won’t be until at least early next week. From James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail.

30 Thoughts: Playoff also-rans determined early in NHL

Not really any Leafs-related thoughts this week, but 30 Thoughts is always an interesting read. From Elliotte Friedman of CBC Sports.

Leafs’ Carlyle ‘has changed quite a bit’ since Ducks days

I remember Daren Millard of Sportsnet saying during an intermission segment that he expected Carlyle to be much more intense coming to the Leafs as well. Good to hear he’s learned to relax a little bit. From Mike Brophy of CBC Sports.

Organization envisions prospect Andrew MacWilliam as a future Mark Fraser

From the few preseason games I’ve seen him play, he might be better than Fraser already. I’m definitely interested to see him in a regular season game; I think he could be a really useful player. From Kyle Cicerella.

What’s eating the Leafs penalty kill?

Good question. Kulemin and Fraser should help when they return. From Cam Charron of The Leafs Nation.
