Leafs re-sign Nazem Kadri to two-year deal worth $2.9-million per season

According to Nick Kypreos, the Leafs have re-signed restricted free agent Nazem Kadri. This reported deal comes days before training camp and with rumors of Kadri previously signing a deal coming from TSN. Kadri was quick to shut those earlier reports down. With the Leafs’ current cap troubles it will be interesting to see if these are indeed true.

Kadri finished last year’s shortened season with 18 goals and 44 points, and was one of the best offensive forwards for the young Leafs squad.

We will have more once we get more info and conformation.

A recent tweet from TSN’s Darren Dreger shows that the deal is indeed confirmed and Kadri has re-signed with the Leafs.

I, for one, really like this deal, and it’s good the Leafs finally got this done. Days went by where it looked like Kadri would remain unsigned through the beginning of training camp. Kadri provided (albeit in a short season) a ton of offence and showed that he belongs with the big club. This deal makes the Bozak and Clarkson signings less painful, and the line combinations the Leafs will be able to ice with Kadri in the fold should be interesting. All attention should now go towards getting a deal done with Cody Franson, although there will be less than $2-million available in cap space. It would be really tough to open the season without Franson on the blue line.
