Brodeur Wins NHL Cover Vote

New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur has won the EA Sports 2014 NHL Cover Vote. Despite a slew of accomplishments in his career, the 41-year-old goalie has never appeared on the cover of the popular NHL video game.

Brodeur defeated Columbus Blue Jackets goalie and Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky in the final round of the 60 player voting bracket. Over 22 million votes were cast online and another million on Twitter in the final round of fan voting.

Brodeur got past Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings in the semi-finals to make it to the final round. This will be the first time a goalie has been on the cover of the game since 1997, when John Vanbiesbrouck of the Florida Panthers had the honour.
