Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager Dave Nonis said his team is looking to make some more moves before July 5th, and that could possibly include acquiring Edmonton Oilers centre Sam Gagner.
Sportsnet is reporting that the Maple Leafs have spoken to the Oilers about the availability of Gagner and this could indicate what they plan to do with Tyler Bozak. If Toronto is going to let Bozak walk in free agency, adding someone like Gagner gives them some more depth down the middle.
There were rumours last week that the Leafs and Oilers were talking about a swap that involved Edmonton’s 7th overall pick in this year’s draft in exchange for a defenseman, but perhaps the two sides were actually discussing Gagner.
Gagner finished second on the Oilers in 2013 with 38 points in 48 games.
