Darren Dreger of TSN is reporting that Toronto Marlies head coach Dallas Eakins is likely to get a second interview with the Vancouver Canucks. Dreger said he was reasonably sure that it would be happening, but the interview has not taken place yet.

The Canucks are looking for someone to replace Alain Vigneault who was let go after Vancouver was swept in the first round by the San Jose Sharks. Scott Arniel and Glen Gulutzan are supposed to be receiving interviews this week with the Canucks as well.

Eakins could be considered the favourite at this point though. He has received plenty of additional interest this off-season about an NHL job from the Dallas Stars, New York Rangers, and even the Edmonton Oilers as an assistant coach. Eakins is probably best suited for a younger team like the Stars or Oilers because of his excellent track record in the Leaf farm system.
