Marlies Can Clinch Playoff Spot Tonight In Abbotsford

The Toronto Maple Leafs might have to wait another week or so to attempt to clinch a playoff spot, but their AHL affiliate will have a chance to punch their ticket to the dance tonight. A Toronto Marlies victory over the Abbotsford Heat this evening would send the team back to the post-season. Abbotsford would need a miracle to make the playoffs and will be looking to spoil the Marlies’ party, or at the very least delay it temporarily.

Toronto, however, should know that picking up two points in Abbotsford will be no easy task as the Marlies have struggled against the Heat this season going 2-4-0-0. With that being said, Toronto did come out victorious with a 4-3 win at the end of March the last time the two teams met.

The Marlies sit two points back of the Texas Stars for first place in the Western Conference and with six games left they could not only be looking to clinch a playoff position, but claiming top spot in the conference isn’t out of the question either. Toronto will get an extra boost this weekend as Tyler Biggs joins the team for the remainder of the campaign. Biggs posted 26 goals and 53 points with the Oshawa Generals this season.
