The 2013 NHL trade deadline is only two days away and Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager, Dave Nonis, will have to make some big decisions in the next 48 hours.
Here are a few updates I’ve been following today…
1. Roberto Luongo: Trade talk regarding the veteran goaltender is starting to pick up once again, and the Vancouver Province reports Canucks General Manager Mike Gillis is currently discussing with multiple teams on a potential Luongo deal. If the Maple Leafs would like to acquire Luongo, Toronto would have to give up Tyler Bozak as the Canucks are looking for a third line centre, and the strong face-off man would solve their issue.
2. Miikka Kiprusoff: According to TSN Insider Darren Dreger, the Toronto Maple Leafs were in talks with the Calgary Flames this weekend regarding the veteran goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff. The two sides aren’t close to a deal, but they’re expected to stay in touch over the next three days. If the Maple Leafs would like to acquire Kiprusoff, they’d have to send over at least a 2nd round pick and a mid-level prospect and or a roster player.
3. The Leafs have also been looking to improve their top-four, and have considered Keith Yandle, Dmitri Kulikov and Jay Bouwmeester.
