MacArthur Out With Upper-Body Injury

Clarke MacArthur sat out tonight’s game against the Florida Panthers because of an upper-body injury. The Toronto Maple Leaf forward has been listed as day-to-day and there are few specifics known about the injury at this time, or when it occurred.

MacArthur has been the subject of trade rumours as we creep closer to next week’s deadline. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season and if MacArthur isn’t signed to a new deal before then, it may be wise for the Leafs to get something in return. His cap hit of $3.25M isn’t outrageous and he may be an attractive rental option for some teams.

MacArthur has seven goals and 17 points so far in 2013, but he is one guy the Leafs could probably afford to part with. He doesn’t really fit into Toronto’s young core and long-term plans, and moving MacArthur would be better than losing him for nothing this summer.
