Toronto Marlies Take On Lake Erie Monsters Tonight

The Toronto Marlies head into Cleveland tonight to take on the Lake Erie Monsters on a bit of a roll. The Marlies have won six of their last seven games and are now up to fifth place in the Western Conference.

Lake Erie on the other hand has lost five of their last six, and four straight games overall. The Monsters sit 13th in the West, but the Marlies can’t take them lightly. Lake Erie are just five points back of the Marlies in a very tightly contested conference.

Toronto will be without some key players for tonight’s game. Jake Gardiner remains out with concussion like symptoms, Nazem Kadri won’t be playing with a lower-body injury, and the reliable Mike Zigomanis is dealing with an upper-body injury. If the Marlies hope to make it seven victories in eight games then they will need some other players to step up.

Ryan Hamilton may just be the guy to do it. The captain has four goals in his last four games and with two more he will become the team’s all-time leading goal scorer, passing Jeremy Williams.

It will be interesting to see who Dallas Eakins gives the start to in goal tonight. Jussi Rynnas is really pushing Ben Scrivens for the starting job, as he has three shutouts in just five games this season.
