FanSided 30-in-30: San Jose Sharks

One of my favorite teams out west, the Sharks were pretty busy this summer. Familiar faces Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi were shipped to Minnesota (in separate trades) in exchange for Brent Burns and Martin Havlat. Should be interesting to see how the Sharks stack up against the new-look Los Angeles Kings, as they’ll have some pretty stiff competition for the Pacific Division title this season. With a pretty star-studded offense and a defensive corps that’s solid from top to bottom in front of Antti Niemi. Alex Schirru from Blades of Teal with more on Niemi and the new-look blueline in front of him.

Antti Niemi is the main man between the pipes. He put up some good numbers last year for the Sharks and backstopped them to another Western Conference Final. He has the playoff experience and the championship ring to prove his worth. With the Sharks’ improved blue line, look for Niemi to have another strong statistical season. I also hope that the improved defense will lead to Niemi having more gas in the tank come playoff time so he can lead this team to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Check out the rest of his preview here.
