Finally, the deal with Tomas Kaberle is coming to it’s end. Well, as soon as the trade call is complete.
The long time Maple Leaf defensemen has been asked to waive his NTC, which he has in order for Toronto to deal the soon-to-be UFA defensemen to the Boston Bruins.
With Kaberle headed to Boston, the Leafs will get back forward prospect Joe Colborne, Boston’s first round pick in the upcoming entry draft, and another conditional pick.
Colborn is an offensive player, with top line potential. He’s quick, has a gifted set of hands, and thinks the game very well. He isn’t a liability in his own end either.
Acquiring Colborn actually gives the Leafs three of the top 17 picks from the 2007 dradt with Luke Schenn, Jake Gardiner, and now Joe Colborne.
While most fans will complain about not getting the Leafs first back in the deal, you should have known you weren’t going to get that back for Kaberle.
I wish Kaberle the best of luck in Boston, but goodness how glad are we that this Kaberle mess is finally over? I know I am.
