Versteeg Traded To Flyers

Reports are now surfacing that the Toronto Maple Leafs have traded forward Kris Versteeg to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for their 2011 first round draft choice and a third round pick in the 2011 draft.

Versteeg who was acquired over the summer from the Stanley Cup champion, Chicago Blackhawks, has posted 14 goals, 21 assists for 35 points in 53 games for the Leafs this season.

While Versteeg didn’t have to be dealt, Brian Burke obviously felt that the trade is going to better the Leafs in the long run, and with the Leafs lacking a 1st round pick this season, Burke pulled the trigger on a deal he obviously likes.

Chris Hanson has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies to fill Versteeg’s void on the offensive lines.

I’ll more of a break down later this evening.
