Jonas Gustavsson suffered another setback yesterday as he underwent minor heart operation in order to battle an abnormal heartbeat. This is Gustavsson’s third surgery in two season’s with the Maple Leafs.
The minor operation isn’t expected to keep Gustavsson out long as it’s rumored he’ll be cleared to practice again in less than a week.
The Leafs said that the operation was performed in London, Ontario by the same doctor who operated on the young Swedish goaltender last season.
Jonas was pulled from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) Wednesday with an elevated heart rate and though he could have returned, Jussi Rynnas finished the game, which resulted in a win for the Marlies.
