Kessel, Leafs Ready For Round 2 With Sens

Source: bleacherreport.com

After a disappointing effort against the Sens last night, the Leafs will get an immediate chance for redemption tonight.  Both teams have shuffled their lineups drastically, and there’s a couple of Leafs who probably can’t wait to get back on the ice and erase the memory of last night’s beating but won’t get the chance. At the top of that list is Nazem Kadri, who has failed to even remotely demonstrate that he is capable of contributing in the NHL this season. Don’t get me wrong, I love the kid, and I really hope he makes the roster this season. Facts are facts, though, and one true fact is that he played like shit last night. Turned the puck over a couple of times trying to make fancy passes or one too many moves, and failed to generate any offense despite playing alongside a couple of pretty decent players in Versteeg and Armstrong. That whole line will be sitting out tonight, as Wilson looks like he will alternate between his 1st and 2nd lines, at least to start the preseason.  Here’s the two teams’ lineups for tonight:

Ottawa Senators

Foligno-Winchester-Ruutu
Regin-Smith-Shannon
Wick-Hoffman-Butler
O’Brien-Bass-Lessard

Cowen-Karlsson
Wiercioch-Hale
Benoit- Lee

According to Battle of Ontario, Brian Elliott will play the full game tonight.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Kulemin-Bozak-Kessel
Caputi-Mitchell-Boyce
MacArthur-Grabovski-D’Amigo
Orr-Foster-Rosehill

Komisarek-Beauchemin
Schenn-Blacker
Richmond-Mikus

Andrew Engelage and Ben Scrivens will split the goaltending duties for the Leafs tonight.

With Orr and Rosehill in the lineup, I’d expect much of the physical stuff we saw last night to be present yet again, and hopefully Bozak and Kessel can pot a few on Elliott. Puck drops at 7 pm, and hopefully this squad of Leafs will put forth some better efforts.
